Don’t Keep It Under Your Hat

Don't Keep It Under Your Hat

What is 'Don't Keep It Under Your Hat'?

“Don’t Keep It Under Your Hat” is a campaign that runs from the 3rd March – 30th March designed to get farmers talking and back to lovin’ life a bit more.

It aims to normalise help-seeking behaviour and remove tricky barrier to farmers getting the help they need earlier.

It’s a non-threatening conversation starter that highlights the need to not keep things bottled up.

Since 2020 TIACS has been texting and talking with tradies, truckies, farmers and blue-collar workers to help them clear their heads. Our service is free, confidential and manned by people whose job it is to get people doing it tough, talking in productive ways.

And like a great hat, we can take this message anywhere. With your support.

"Every 10 days an Australian farmer takes their own life"

Right now, farmers are at risk despite some new help being available.

On the land it’s easy to hit a rough patch and not enough farmers are getting the help they need, when they need it.

The science says it’s hard to get farmers talking about what’s troubling them. And accessing a relatable and effective service doesn’t come easy, especially when resources can be costly, thin on the ground and waiting times, long.

TIACS was started by the co-founders of TradeMutt Dan Allen and Edward Ross. TradeMutt and TIACS are connected by their co-founders but serve complimentary but separate responses in changing the mental health landscape, in Australia.
